Shenkin St. – The chic center of Tel Aviv
Shenkin (Sheinkin) St. has been a local Tel Aviv attraction for over 20 years, and one of the most popular Tel Aviv tourist hangouts. The name of the street, from which the most exciting Israeli music, theater and dance groups emerged during the 80s, is synonymous with the so called "Tel Aviv Spirit". The street offers a massive amount of great stores and cafes, amongst the best in town.
Shenkin (Sheinkin) St. is a great target for clothes shopping, as some of the leading Israeli designers' shops are located there: Ronen Chen (49 Sheinkin St.), Naama Bezalel and Banot – Lulu Liam (40 Sheinkin St.) are just few of them.
If it's accessories and jewelry you are in search for, the world famous jewelry designer Michal Negrin (37 Sheinkin St.) is just around the corner. Daniella Lehavi (35 Sheinkin St.), who's famous for leather bags and shoes, is also located nearby. If you are looking for some alternative local culture pay a visit to Krembo, the ever-trendy music shop on 18 Shenkin St.
The Western part of Shenkin, closer to the Carmel Market and Allenby, features many shoe stores, among which you'll find some global brands as well (Camper, Aldo & Adidas, to name a few), though considering the amount of original Israeli offering, you might consider giving those up.
Shenkin St. is also famous for its trendy coffee shops and small restaurants, starting from one of the Tel Aviv cultural landmarks – Café Tamar (57 Sheinkin St.) that has been serving stale coffee for over 40 years. Sus Etz (20 Sheinkin St.) and Aroma (30 Sheinkin St.) are other options for a nice coffee break. If you're hungrier than that, don't miss Orna and Ella, the best restaurant on the street, and if it’s a short break you are looking for, Ginat Shenkin, a tiny park located half way thru the street, is a nice option.
Sheinkin St. is located few minutes' walk from Adiv hotel Tel Aviv. To learn more about the street and its offering, you can visit Sheinkin's own website, at www.sheinkinstreet.co.il.
