Tel Aviv port: Best Tel Aviv restaurants and great sea view

The old Tel Aviv port was established in 1936, and was the first Hebrew port in the state of Israel. Here the first immigrants' ships landed, but ever since the 1960's it has stopped being active as a port. In the 1980's the port resumed activity, but as a nightlife center composed of many restaurants, pubs, cafes and beautiful scenery.

Some of the best seafood restaurants in Tel Aviv are located here, most of which are open during daytime, have great view of the Mediterranean and relaxed atmosphere, and even offer business menus. It could be nice to try one or more of the attractive cafes and restaurants that offer comfortable chairs and sofas pointing directly towards the sea.

Mul-Yam (Tel: 03-5469920) is a superb seafood restaurant, chosen in 2003 as one of the top 140 restaurants in the world. Prices here match their flavor, so it is pretty expensive yet recommended. Gilly's (Tel: 03-6057777) is known for its excellent breakfast, served every day until 17:00. Boya (Tel: 03-5446166) might not be appreciated by low-budget travelers, but it is nonetheless a great opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood.

Shalvata (Tel: 03-5441279) is a bar-restaurant named after one of Israel's largest mental institutions that offers great seaside view with sea-front tables. The port is close to many Tel Aviv hotels. Adiv, one of the various Tel Aviv hotels, is highly accessible, and it is recommended to use the public transportation on Ben Yehuda Street to get to the port and back – either bus or shared taxi. Of the many Tel Aviv hotels, Adiv is located near the main street of Ben Yehuda, which makes it easier to reach.
