Jaffa Flea Market
If you're looking for a truly Middle Eastern experience while staying in a Tel Aviv hotel, the famous Jaffa flea market should be at the top of your list of things to do. The flea market in Jaffa, a city with over 4,000 years of history, offers buyers plenty of finds (some almost as old as the city itself!). The main flea market is located on two streets, but branches out to other streets as well. Open everyday but Saturday, you can find antique furniture, clothes, toys, and souvenirs of every kind at this colorful market. Hippie-style clothing and silver and beaded jewelry are only some of the unique things waiting to be found in the stalls overflowing with goods. Buyers should be ready to bargain for their purchase, though!
If haggling over a scarf, antique table, or woven carpet is not for you, there are plenty of other sights to see and foods to taste. A few years back, the area was renovated and a number of restaurants, coffee shops, and art galleries have popped up attracting a younger crowd and plenty of tourists.
For the last several summers, the Jaffa flea market has been proud to host nights of street art and culture. While the dates are not set, many Thursday nights during the summer, the flea market is open for business with musicians, street and circus performers, and more entertaining young and old alike. This nighttime cultural experience should not be missed if you happen to be visiting Tel Aviv-Jaffa during the summer.
You can easily reach Jaffa from your Tel Aviv hotel on the beach by walking south on the beach towards Jaffa's port. If you'd rather take a cab or bus from your Tel Aviv hotel, the Adiv Hotel staff will be happy to assist you in arranging your transportation to the Jaffa flea market.
