Hayarkon Park

Located in the northern end of the city, Hayarkon Park is the largest public park in Tel Aviv. It is the city's major urban retreat, with many trees, lots of greenery and a streaming river (at least by local standards). Hayarkon Park is a great place for families to visit, especially in its eastern part, which is much wider and has many all-family activity centers. The western part of the park is narrower, less family-oriented, and is a better choice for couples wishing to chill out, especially on weekends, when the rest of the park is fairly crowded.

Cycling is probably the best way to explore Hayarkon Park. There are many places to rent bicycles and a network of small trails for short and long distance rides. The park is flat in most parts, so cycling with children is easy.

For those who wish to explore the park through the river, there is an option to rent paddle boats, kayaks, and small motor boats in the artificial lake in the north-eastern part of the park and in the river as well. Other family activities include Tel Aviv's largest amusement park, the "Lunapark" (across the road) and a miniature golf field at the north river bank. In the north bank of Hayarkon Park you will find also the "Sportec", which is a large sports center with basketball and rollerblades courts, soccer fields and even a wall climbing facility with all the necessary gear and guidance.

You can't beat Hayarkon Park when it comes to family activities and chilling out in the city. Many people visit the park every weekend, yet it is large enough for each one to find his or her spot. Surely you will find there what you are looking for, whether it's cycling, paddling by boat, hiking or just passing some laid back hours.
