Gan Hahashmal
Once the location of Tel Aviv's central power plant and one of its "dodgy" areas, Gan Hahashmal (Electricity Garden) in recent years has become the home to many of the city's alternative activities, with cool looking crowd who live, work and party there. Gan Hahashmal is considered today as one of the coolest neighborhoods in Tel Aviv, and one of the central nightlife spots for hip young crowd.
Gan Hahashmal is a miniature quarter between the streets of Allenby, Yehuda Halevy, Barzilay & Hahashmal. It has many cafes, restaurants and bars, next to cutting-edge boutiques and accessory designers. Those are making Gan Hahashmal a very lively young-spirited area of the city, which is fun to visit day or night.
If you visit Gan Hahashmal having shopping in mind, you won't be disappointed. A collective of Israeli fashion designers are working there under the name of Collective 6940. These Israeli designer's shops are scattered around the small central garden. To witness a sample of this group's work at its best, visit Frau Blau (8 HaHashmal St.), where Israeli fashion designer Helena Blaunstein creates an eclectic women’s clothing line, characterized by vibrant colors, feminine shapes and 21st-century playfulness.
In addition, the designers group organizes several cultural events throughout the year, including art exhibitions, music and dance performances, group yoga and more.
When it comes to some nightlife action, one of the best live performance music bars in Tel Aviv is located at Levontin 7. Simply named after its address, Levontin 7 hosts many local and foreign musicians. For more details and to find out which groups are currently playing visit

Not many hotels in Tel Aviv are located in this part of the city. In fact, most of hotels in Tel Aviv are located in "quieter" neighborhoods. Though situated next to the beach, Adiv Hotel offers an easy access to Gan Hahashmal by public transportation or by walking for about 20 minutes. Many buses will take you to and from Gan Hahashmal right back to Adiv Hotel, which is one of the most conveniently located hotels in Tel Aviv.
