The Eretz Israel Museum focuses on the history and culture of the Land of Israel. The permanent and temporary exhibits include fascinating findings in the fields of archaeology, ethnography, folklore, Judaica, cultural history and local identity, as well as practical arts and traditional crafts.
The museum has several permanent exhibits, including: The glass pavilion, introducing rare and beautiful assemblage of works in glass from ancient times in the region; The Kadman Numismatic Pavilion, with one of Israel’s largest and most important coin collections, starting from the 6th century BCE; The Nechushtan Pavilion, demonstrating the sophisticated mining and metal works in the ancient Middle East; the Ceramics pavilion, with a fascinating look into the prehistoric and ancient world through the works of harden clay, including the remains of an Israelite house from around 10-7 centuries BCE; The Ethnography and Folklore Pavilion, with a rich array of items used for religious rituals and ceremonies, as well as for everyday practices in the old Jewish world; The Man and His Work Center exhibit, with a fabulous collection of ethnographic items associated with the daily life and material culture in the Land of Israel in modern times; and The Alexander Museum of Postal History & Philately, which demonstrates the evolution of mail service in the land of Israel as a factor through which one can understand the social and political developments that have shaped this region. In this fascinating variety of exhibits, every visitor can surely identify his or her field of interest in the history of the holy land.
