Bicycling in Tel Aviv
Bicycling is a great way to experience the sights and sounds the Mediterranean city of Tel Aviv has to offer. In a city where traffic jams are the norm, riding a bike to one's tourist destination is a quick and healthy way to see Tel Aviv and its environs. Whether you're heading out to one of the city's art or history museums, one of the many beaches on Tel Aviv's 14 km of seashore, or to the Hayarkon Park for a picnic, a bicycle is a great way to get there.
Bicycling in the city has become quite the trend, and today Tel Avivians and tourists alike enjoy the growing bicycling culture. In fact, in order to encourage bicycle riding, the Tel Aviv-Jaffa municipality and the "Ha-Ir" newspaper have begun hosting the "City on Bicycles" event during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. The city has paved 74 km of bike paths and hopes to see more and more bicyclists take advantage of this environmentally-friendly method of transportation. The promenade on the Tel Aviv coast, with Tel Aviv hotels, clubs, and restaurants on one side and the beautiful Mediterranean on the other, is a great place to ride your bike and enjoy some sun and fun.
Places to rent bicycles can be found close to most Tel Aviv hotels. O-Fun on Ben Yehuda Street (http://www.rentabikeisrael.com/) offers hourly and daily rental services. Bike Planet, located in the Hayarkon Park (www.bikeplanet.co.il), also rents bikes and even provides guided tours for groups.
Put simply, renting a bicycle during your stay in Tel Aviv is an affordable, enjoyable way to see the sights of the city. So have breakfast, put on your helmet, and enjoy the culture, fun, and sights of this amazing city. The staff at the Adiv Hotel will be happy to help you arrange your bike rental and direct you to the bike paths closest to the area most Tel Aviv hotels are located.
