Ben-Gurion St.

Ben-Gurion St. is one the streets that truly capture the character of the city of Tel Aviv. It is a lovely place to take a walk or to have a cup of coffee in the middle of the boulevard while enjoying some people watching. In addition, there are a few places along the boulevard worth visiting, for locals and tourists alike.

At the west end of the boulevard is a small plaza called Kikar Atarim, where several Tel Aviv hotels are located. The plaza itself is popular amongst younger tourists and families during the summer months, and offers nice seafront views. In the middle of Kikar Atarim, next to some Tel Aviv hotels located in the area, there is a popular bar named "La Kikar", which is jammed every evening with fine looking crowd.

Ben-Gurion St. is named after the first prime minister of the state of Israel, and where his residence used to be. For a brief and fun history lesson, visit the Ben-Gurion house (17 Ben-Gurion St.). It is a very modest residence converted into a museum, with a remarkable library that contains thousands of books. Visiting Ben-Gurion's house one can imagine the simple lifestyle of the founders of the state of Israel, a lifestyle that was a part of the common values in those early days of the state. Modest as it was, the house is still interestingly designed and organized.

There are many small outdoor cafes with great coffee and sandwiches along the boulevard. If you are in a mood for some nice seafood dishes, try Goocha (171 Dizengoff St.). Situated at the cross point of Ben-Gurion St. and Dizengoff St, Goocha is well known for its fresh dishes, pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices.

If you are traveling with small children, the Dyada center at 17 Ben-Gurion St. offers with many types of amusements for kids. You can sit in its garden and enjoy a peaceful meal in the complex's restaurant, while the young ones are kept busy and are having fun.

Not many Tel Aviv hotels are located next t o Ben Gurion St. It is situated very close to Adiv hotel Tel Aviv – just walk a couple of minutes to the north and you will locate that tree-lined boulevard in no time.
